Presentation of the project “Into the Sublime” (videoarte + performances) and Sublime newspaper, by Avelino Sala and Eugenio Merino.

Conference “The impact of exponential technologies on creativity and culture”, directed by Paco Bree.

In this first panel the present and future of exponential technologies will be analyzed. What changes are occurring in society? Are we prepared to work collaboratively with intelligent machines? Do we have to reinvent ourselves before the automation of the world of work? When do we reach concepts like computer telepathy that will happen with our privacy and confidentiality?

Conference “The impact of exponential technologies on creativity and culture”, directed by Paco Bree.

In this second panel, the impact that exponential technologies will have on the cultural and artistic world will be analyzed. What new artistic trends driven by exponential technologies are emerging? What will be the role of the creative artist with the arrival of intelligent machines? Will skills such as imagination, creativity and intuition remain under the human domain, or will new technologies enter these worlds?

Speakers:

• Paco Bree, digital artist. Expert in Creativity and Exponential Innovation of Deusto Business School.
• María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde, artists and researchers who have performed hybridizations between cyborgs, wereables and other exponential technologies.
• Monica Villas, an expert in Artificial Intelligence, was senior manager of IBM.
• Elsa Varela, Innovation Manager at Deloitte.

12.00. Performance “The Craft of Flowers” by Noemí Iglesias Barrios, within the “Into the Sublime” project.

The technique of ceramic floral production is an industrial trade that was performed entirely by women throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in European ceramic factories. In a hierarchically patriarchal framework, such as the industrial environment, the presence of women has always been a clear example of labor segregation that resulted in wage inferiority and therefore an economic dependence on women respect to male workers.

Due to the difficulty and time it takes to make each of the flowers, it is a technique that is practically missing.

The performance represents this delicate work highlighting the female figure and her work in the ceramic factories throughout history.

17.00 h. Performance “Art now” by Verónica Ruth Frías, within the project “Into the Sublime”.
The performance of Verónica Ruth Frías reflects, metaphorically, the difficulties that women suffer in the art system. The glass ceiling turned into a feminist and vindictive performance. It seems easy, doesn’t it? Ruth Frías answers this question …

Presentation of Árvore – Cooperativa, CRL – Produção Artística e Cultural desde 1963.  Árvore cooperative, founded by artists, creators and intellectuals, hosts an exhibition space in Porto, workshops for painting, drawing, photography, screen printing, lithography, engraving and ceramics.

19.30 h.PRESENTATION ROOM.
Meeting with Gabriel Ruiz Larrea “Aesthetics of the viscous”.
Starting from the current theme such as posthumanism, anthropocene, the ecological crisis and an artistic approach of that field, a set of parallel activities around the project “The flickering of an extraterrestrial” by Elena Urucatu and Carlos Maté in the Modus Operandi Gallery are configured , that dive into the multiple lines of connection between disciplines as diverse as art, science, philosophy, technology, cooking, or esotericism. The meeting with Gabriel Ruiz Larrea is one of these activities. Aesthetics of the viscous is a conversation between substances, a reflection on the complex, unstable, delocalized and viscous mixture that forms contemporary matter. As a genealogy of the soft, this approach to the unstable can enable an ontological transformation around the concepts of geology, archeology and nature.

12.00 h. – 14.00 h. – Children’s workshop / collective mural in which each child will represent an ecosystem and become aware of the importance of protecting animals in danger of extinction. This workshop is directed by Supernova Art Lab for Kids. Mandatory registration in the email supernova.artlab@gmail.com
